License Printing:

Licenses can be printed online at http://www.nipr.com/producer_licensing_map.htm

Renewal Period (for all License types and LOAs):

  • Renewal period will open 30 days prior to expiration date. Applicant will not be allowed to submit renewal prior to 30 days.
  • Applicant may late renew up to 30 days past expiration date with no penalty fee. On 31st day, applicant must reapply through RL.

State Specific Individual Requirements

Every applicant for a Puerto Rico non-resident insurance producer license must meet the following requirements in order to renew their license:

  • Background question documentation can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • Applicant must complete all required fields on the Uniform Application.
  • Background questions must all be answered “No”. Answered 'Yes' to background question. Documentation for background questions can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • There must be no serious RIRS actions for the applicant since last renewal.
  • There must be no SAD actions for the applicant since last renewal.
  • Applicant renewing Variables LOA must renew Life simultaneously within the same license class.
  • Applicant renewing Authorized Person license type must list only one affiliation. More than one affiliation to a business entity is NOT permitted.
  • Surplus Lines Broker applicants must hold an active Producer or Authorized Representative license.
  • Applicant renewing Authorized Representative must have an appointment with an insurer.
  • Applicant with Voluntary Surrender status reason must reapply through Non-Resident License application (NRL).

State Specific Business Entity Requirements

Every business entity applicant for a Puerto Rico non-resident insurance producer license must meet the following requirements in order to renew their license:

  • Background question documentation can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • Applicant must complete all required fields on the Uniform Application.
  • Background questions must all be answered “No”. Answered “Yes” to background question. Documentation for background questions can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • There must be no serious RIRS actions for the applicant since last renewal.
  • There must be no SAD actions for the applicant since last renewal.
  • Applicant renewing Variables LOA must renew Life simultaneously within the same license class.
  • Applicant must provide at least one DRLP. DRLP(s) provided must hold active Authorized Person license in PR. DRLP does NOT need to hold same license type as Business Entity request.
  • At least one DRLP must hold ALL LOAs requested on Business Entity renewal application. DRLP must be actively licensed as an
  • Authorized Person with qualifying lines of authority. DRLP does NOT need to hold same license type as Business Entity request.
  • Applicants requesting the LOA of Malpractice must list a DRLP that holds active Authorized Person with Casualty LOA in PR.
  • Business Entity renewals for classes with lines of “None” must list DRLP that holds active Authorized Person. No Lines are validated.
  • Surplus Lines Broker applicants must hold an active Producer or Authorized Representative license.
  • Applicant renewing Authorized Representative must have an appointment with an insurer.
  • Applicant with Voluntary Surrender status reasons must reapply through Non-Resident License application (NRL).
