Louisiana Appointment Renewal for 2015

Key Information

The Louisiana (LA) Department of Insurance will provide electronic appointment renewal processing with the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR).

All terminations will need to be posted on NIPR's PDB before January 7, 2015.
Active producer and agency appointments on record as of January 15, 2015, will be invoiced for renewals.
The NIPR website will display the renewal invoice and a list of appointment renewals beginning on February 2, 2015.

The invoices will no longer be displayed on the NIPR website after 4:00pm CDT, April 30, 2015.
NIPR will display the invoices as paid, once payment is received.
Appointments sent between January 15, 2015 and April 15, 2015 will need to be reappointed for the next renewal period (05/01/2015 to 4/30/2016) and the appointments will be on the appointment renewal invoice due by April 30, 2015.
Appointments submitted between April 16, 2015 and April 30, 2015, will be declined with the following message: ‘Appointment applications submitted after April 15 will not be processed until after the renewal period ends. The appointment will then be provided with a May 1 effective date.’ The declined appointments will not be on the appointment renewal invoice. On May 4th, NIPR will send the declined appointments to Louisiana to process into their system. Please note that this step may take up to a week to complete. Appointments submitted between April 15th and April 30th will then be given an effective date of May 1, 2015 by the state after processing.
Louisiana appointments paid through the appointment renewal invoice will also be updated after the renewal period ends on April 30, 2015 with the effective date of May 1, 2015.

IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION
Payments for Louisiana Appointment Renewals must be made using the electronic payment options only.

NOTE: NO PAPER CHECKS:

Companies that submit a payment to NIPR via paper check will not have their renewal invoice processed and will have the payment refunded to them
NIPR may take several days to post the paper check and issue a refund check to your company, since receipt of a paper check is through a lock box account.

NIPR is not responsible for any renewal late fees incurred during this period

LA will terminate all applicable appointments if the invoice is not paid by close of business April 30, 2015.

1% of total state fees charged

Minimum $5.00 / Maximum $1,000.00

NIPR processing fee would be 1% of the State Appointment Renewal Fee of $2,000.00 = $20.00

NIPR renewal processing fee are based on the number of appointment renewals on the invoice

Louisiana State Appointment Renewal Fees
February 2, 2015	To	March 1, 2015	Customers will have $20 per appointment renewal State fee charge
March 2, 2015	To	April 30, 2015	Customers will have $30 ($20 renewal fee plus $10 late fee) per appointment LOA renewal State fee charge.

Payment Method and other Fees
Credit Card	If you are paying by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) the process will be entirely electronic. Please note there is a $60,000.00 limit on Credit Card payments. If your invoice exceeds $60,000.00, you must choose an alternative payment method. If you have questions regarding the other methods, please call NIPR Customer Service. An appropriate receipt will be displayed for you to print for your records.
Electronic Check	A few banks or credit unions may not participate in electronic check services If your bank needs a pre-authorization to use this electronic check service you will need to provide your financial institution with this information: NIPR ACH-9431763793. There is a $25.00 returned check charge for any electronic check that does not clear the applicant’s bank. Additionally, the state will be notified if any issue with payment is not promptly resolved, possibly resulting in non-renewal of appointments or a reversal of renewals, until payment is made.

Follow the links to company appointment renewals and sign-in using your company identifiers: company Cocode, FEIN, and/or company name
After entering the necessary identifying information, you can:

Print/Pay the Invoice
View the detail report of appointment renewals
Print the Report
Download the Report as text (delimited)
Download the Report as XML.

APPOINTMENT RECONCILIATION INFORMATION

Insurance carriers with an NAIC CoCode wishing to reconcile company appointments with the state insurance department may obtain a list of appointments via the Company Appointment Report (CAR) prior to appointment renewal invoices being created. Terminations can be made through the Interactive Appointment and Termination Application. Both of these applications are available to NIPR Subscribers.
