Individual Business Rules
Every individual applicant for a North Carolina non-resident license must meet the following requirements:
- Background question documentation can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse at: https://pdb.nipr.com/docMgmt/main.html. If you plan to mail documentation to the Division instead, please be sure to include your license number and your NIPR transaction number.
- Applicants applying for Medicare Supplement/Long Term Care LOA must hold an active Accident & Health or Sickness LOA in NC or be applying for both LOAs at the same time.
- Applicant must enter FINRA CRD number on application for Variable Products
- Applicants applying for the Broker LOA must have one or more or be applying for the following active Producer LOAs:
- Life
- Accident & Health or Sickness
- Property
- Casualty
- Personal Lines
- Business email is required

Business Entity Business Rules
Every business entity applicant for a North Carolina non-resident license must meet the following requirements:
- Background question documentation can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse at: https://pdb.nipr.com/docMgmt/main.html. If you plan to mail documentation to the Division instead, please be sure to include your license number and your NIPR transaction number.
- Business entity can’t apply for or hold both a Corporation license and a Partnership license in NC.
- At least one DRLP must be provided on the application, except for Auto-Rental Limited License, Self-Service Storage Limited License, and Portable Electronics Business Entity.
- At least one DRLP provided on the application must be actively license in the state at the time a Public Adjuster Business Entity application is submitted.
- Business email is required.
- Applicants must be one of the following legal business types:
- Corporation
- Partnership
- Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- Sole Proprietorship - ONLY for Limited Lines Business Entity
