  • Online license printing is not available in New Mexico.

State Specific Individual Requirements for initial application

Every individual applicant for a New Mexico resident license must meet the following requirements:

  • Background question documentation must be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • P.O. box addresses will not be accepted for the resident address
  • Applicants applying for variable contracts will need to apply for or actively hold life (excluding health) or life, accident & health in jurisdiction.
  • Applicants applying for variable contracts must supply the CRD number.
  • Staff adjuster applicants must enter the name of their sponsoring company as well as the company co-code
  • Applicants cannot apply for life (excluding health) or accident & health if applicant already holds the combined line life, accident & health.
  • Applicants cannot apply for both fraternal life and fraternal life, accident & health simultaneously.
  • All resident applicants for a license and anyone wishing to activate a cancelled resident license must be fingerprinted as part of the application process. Please Note that the producer licensing bureau does not consider the application complete until the background check process is completed. State Specific Business Entity Requirements for initial application

Every business entity applicant for a New Mexico resident license must meet the following requirements:

  • Background question documentation must be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • Applicants applying for variable contracts will need to apply for or actively hold life (excluding health) or life, accident & health in jurisdiction.
  • Country of domicile must be the United States.
  • If limited liability company (LLC) is selected, an owner with 10% interest must be entered.
  • Applicants cannot apply for life (excluding health) or accident & health if applicant already holds the combined line life, accident & health.
  • Applicants cannot apply for both fraternal life and fraternal life, accident & health simultaneously.
  • Applicants cannot apply for both fraternal life, accident & health and life, accident & health simultaneously.
  • E-mail address is required.
  • Affiliate appointment fees must be submitted via paper form. Form 202B can be downloaded at: http://www.nmprc.state.nm.us/insurance/agent-licensing/docs/form202-B.pdf.

State Specific Individual Requirements

Every individual applicant for a New Mexico resident license must meet the following requirements in order to renew their license:

  • Background question documentation can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • Applicant renewing broker or surplus lines broker license must be continued education compliant.
  • Applicants renewing a variable contracts line of authority need to actively hold or renew for a life or life, accident & health line of authority simultaneously.
  • All lines must be renewed. Partial renewals are not allowed.
  • Business email address is required.
  • All licenses renew annually (some licenses will be renewed by renewing at least one appointment).
  • All individual licenses expire April 30th. The renewal window opens March 1st and closes April 30th.
  • All individuals can renew with an additional $15.00 late fee beginning May 1st until May 31st.

  • At least one DRLP must be listed on the application.
  • At least one DRLP listed must have an active license in New Mexico (resident or non-resident).
  • Applicants renewing a variable contracts line of authority need to actively hold or renew for a life or life, accident & health line of authority simultaneously.
  • Business email address is required.
  • At least one affiliation must be on record at the time of renewal for the business entity to renew.
  • All business entity licenses expire April 30th. The renewal window opens March 1st and closes April 30th.
