State Specific Individual Requirements for Initial Application

Every individual applicant for a Maine resident license must meet the following requirements:

  • Background question documentation can be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse at: https://pdb.nipr.com/docMgmt/main.html.
  • A resident can qualify for the Multi-Peril Crop LOA under the Adjuster (Resident) license class by either taking the Multi-Peril Crop exam or showing proof of passing the federal exam. If the Federal Exam was taken, applicant must submit a paper application to the state.
  • If any license or LOA is in revoked status on PDB, applicant must wait one year after revocation status date to apply for ANY new line on license.
  • FINRA CRD# is required if individual is applying for a variable license.
  • Variable Contracts applicants must actively hold or be applying for Individual Producer (Resident) Life license or must actively hold a Producer (Resident) with combined Life and Health line.
  • Resident Surplus Lines producers must submit a Surplus Lines Bond Form before their license can be issued. The form can be found at http://www.maine.gov/pfr/insurance/producer/pdf/slbond.pdf

State Specific Individual Requirements for Renewal Application

Every individual applicant for a Maine resident license must meet the following requirements:

  • Partial renewals are allowed.
  • Individuals for major lines do not renew, nor do Individual Credit, Car Rental and Travel licenses. Maine licenses are perpetual. A new hard copy license will not be sent unless requested.
  • Maine populates the issue date at the license level.
  • Individual's applying for resident renewals can only choose the following license classes: Resident Adjuster
  • Late fees are applicable the first day after the renewal date.

  • EACH DRLP listed on the application must be actively licensed with any LOA in the state of Maine.
