Resident applicants may apply online for Independent/Staff Adjuster, Public Adjuster, Apprentice Adjuster, Administrator (TPA), Agent, Life & Health Consultant, Property & Casualty Consultant, Managing General Agent, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Viatical Settlement Broker, or Viatical Settlement Provider license.

General Information:

AOC Background Check - All resident applicants must provide an Administrative Office of the Courts criminal background report that must be obtained by using Form 8301-BGC. Instructions on the form should be carefully followed. A report obtained any other way will not be accepted by the State. Financial Responsibility - Financial responsibility is not required to be filed prior to license examination (if applicable); however, it must be filed upon successful completion of exam in order to meet all the requirements for an active license.
Proof of financial responsibility must be filed directly with the Kentucky Office of Insurance in accordance with Kentucky laws and regulations. Forms must be requested from the insurer or financial institution authorized to write such coverage.

The prescribed forms are:

Pre-Licensing Certification:
Agents with lines of authority require certification of 20 hours per line of authority pre-licensing completion: Life, Health, Personal Lines, Property, and Casualty.

Viatical Settlement Broker without an active life license requires 40 hours pre-licensing completion.

All pre-licensing course work may be either Classroom or Self-Study. The prelicensing course Provider must complete the Certificate of Pre-licensing Course Completion, Form CPL-01. Form CPL-01 is valid for one year from the course completion date. The certification of completion should be submitted to the State either electronically or in paper at time of application. (Both the prelicensing course and instructor must be prior-approved by the Kentucky Office of Insurance.) An Agent applicant does not have to satisfy the prelicensing training requirement if the individual holds one or more of the following designations in insurance:

A Viatical Settlement Broker must satisfy the pre-licensing exam. A Life Agent Registered as Viatical Settlement Broker must have an Agent License with an active life line of authority for one or more years.

Agent - Life, Health, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, Crop, and Travel,

Consultant - Life & Health and Property & Casualty,

Adjuster - Independent, Public, and Staff,

Viatical Settlement Broker, and

Rental Vehicle Managing Employee - (Examination administered by Employer)
